Galaxy Brain is a celebration of creativity, connection, and the beauty found in every corner of our world. Founded by the late Michael Murray, Galaxy Brain started as a labor of love, an effort to create a unique and beautiful space where voices could be shared, talents could be celebrated, and outsider artists, photographers, writers, and creators could find a home. Michael, a man who found beauty in everything, wanted this platform to be a space where no story, no perspective, no voice was too small to be heard.
The magazine’s journey began as a way to showcase the world through the eyes of those who often get overlooked. Michael believed that everyone had a story to tell, and everyone had something to offer, no matter how unconventional it might seem. Galaxy Brain became a reflection of this ethos—a place where art and writing could flourish in all their forms. His vision was simple: to bring people together, to nurture the arts, and to celebrate the things that make life worth living.
In his final words to his son, Michael expressed gratitude and love for the community that had helped bring Galaxy Brain to life. The #22 issue of Galaxy Brain Magazine, which Michael referred to as his “Pandemic Venture,” marked a turning point. Despite battling illness, he poured his heart into the project, leaving a legacy of creativity, love, and dedication that continues to resonate with all those who have contributed to and supported the magazine.
Following Michael’s passing on March 26, 2024, Galaxy Brain lives on. The contributors, artists, and creators who shared this vision have come together to ensure that his spirit continues to thrive. The magazine now functions as a collective, posting six editions a year, each infused with the same love, creativity, and ambition Michael had when he first started.
Through all its trials and triumphs, Galaxy Brain remains a testament to Michael’s belief in the power of art and the power of people. As he once wrote to his son, “This magazine, the whole series, is for you.” It is our hope that this collection, this scrapbook of life, will continue to serve as a roadmap for the future, as it once did for Michael and his family.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
Michael, wherever you are, we love you. Your vision, your passion, and your heart lives on.
