Shane Redstar

Shane Redstar, from Whitebear, Saskatchewan, has been singing since he was 8 years old. Has sang with many various drum groups such as Assiniboine Jrs, Northern Cree, Blackstone, Whitefish Jrs, Highnoon, Blacklodge,Cree Confederation and the list goes on.

Shane is a well known song composer and has music out there on alot of group albums. Shane is the composer of this brand new tribute which was made for all the children that are being found at these residential schools all across Canada. This song is performed by himself, along with his beautiful daughter Shaneyah Redstar, who is 8 years old. Shaneyah started singing at the young age of 6 years old and has since then found a great passion for singing. Shaneyah is from Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta.

Shane and Shaneyah truly believe that children are the future, that they are the next generation and it is important to teach the children the ways of the culture. Singing truly is a powerful medicine used for healing and they hope that everyone receives the healing that they need during these trying times, thru the drum and gift of song.
