River of Tears

I felt soft sand beneath me, and I heard a train whistle, far off but getting closer. I heard the rustle of palm fronds, the rush of surf, and the beginning of music. It was soft, but it filled everything like a wind from faraway. It was a song I knew from somewhere, though I had forgotten the words.

It was a song for Chloe, and a song for me.
