Alicia Mathias

Alicia is delighted, to join Michael Murray and his Galaxy Brain family! Along with her best friend (and editor), Prince Zeppelin George the Wonder Cat, poetry saves Alicia’s life, each day. She finds comfort and inspiration, when writing poetry and creating art. Alicia loves taking photographs, and is inspired by nature, poetry, and music. She loves to meet friends for cake, coffee and conversation, and has a crush on the comedian, Lewis Black. Next year would be their silver anniversary, if they’d ever had a first date. She loves jazz music, especially Ben Webster, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra. Her favorite films are: The Big Sleep, The Princess Bride, The Fugitive, Tomorrow is Forever, and Wild Strawberries. She has too many favorite poets, to mention. Yet will note: Yves Bonnefoy, W. S. Merwin, Federico García Lorca, Sandra Cisneros, and Alexis Rhone Fancher, as favorites. Alicia loves film noir. Humphrey Bogart, Orson Welles, Richard Burton, and Jack Cassidy, make her swoon. Girl crush? Barbra Stanwyck, in: Double Indemnity. Harrison Ford frequents her dreams. Her favorite artists are: Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and Octavio Quintanilla. Alicia sang in a production of, The Marriage of Figaro. She created a poem, in the form of a crossword puzzle, that took 22 hours to compose. For people who struggle with 24/7 body pain, she would love to find them a cure. Alicia will be elated and thankful, to find a press who feels a kinship with her work, and bring her first manuscript, to print.  If you’d like to read her manuscript, (serious inquiries only), please contact her here: nancydrew22@gmail.com

Alicia’s poems and art
have been published in many fine journals, such as: Ann Arbor Review, Chiron Review, Clockwise Cat, Fearless, Galaxy Brain, Porter Gulch Review, Rye Whiskey Review,  Sore Dove Press, Sweetycat Press, and Voices From the Fire.
