Joe was in the bar a month ago and he said you were struggling with your health. Kirby came in last week and said much the same.
On Saturday a young Japanese busgirl trying to deliver a hamburger was told by someone to bring it to Michael Murray’s seat. She found the place eventually and later asked me why it was called that. Now she wasn’t born when you first sat there and many, many bartenders have delivered food to the Michael Murray seat but none ever asked me about it.
I explained to her who you were, why you were such a good friend and why you were so important to this barroom.
This young lady, being so smart and so Japanese came back later to say that the barroom was honored to have such a holy and meaningful place. I thought maybe I’d laid it on a little thick when I was talking to her, but soon realized she was absolutely right.
