Dear Michael, Rachelle and Jones
Like many others, I first “met” Michael through his writing. A few years ago, I was mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, as one does when utterly bored. My friend Karen Murray, shared one of Michael’s posts and as an avid reader, I clicked on the link. That’s how I discovered Michael’s superb and evocative writing.
Since then, I’ve enjoyed reading Michael’s stories and observations. My favourite stories, and the most poignant, are the stories about Jones. What a gift to not only see the world through a child’s eyes, but to be able to capture and share those moments so eloquently. Michael, your words of love for Rachelle and Jones are so pure and genuine. Whether you’re writing about mundane daily occurrences or the “big” topics, your stories always leave a mark. I’m often left with goosebumps or a lump in my throat after reading your beautiful words.
Michael, your writing is a gift. You vividly paint a story with your words. I find it hard to succinctly describe your writing. When I read your writings, the word that often pops into my head is “sublime”.
Despite your many health challenges, you somehow found a way to powerfully express your experiences. I’m so sorry to hear that you are facing yet more health challenges. I know that you are surrounded by love. I hope that this love brings you strength to face these unimaginable challenges.
Sending you hugs, strength, prayers, and positive thoughts. You’re stronger than you think.
