At 18 he was living in Florida with his family. He had planned to travel during this year as he decided what step to take next in his life, but the pandemic raged and those plans had to be shelved. Regardless, he made the decision to move, on his own, to Toronto, where he had lived some years earlier. When asked what prompted him to make this decision, he wrote this poem:

Stuck in a hole
Searching for a grassy knoll
I can’t breathe in my soul
It’s not the mask
Just a flittering deity
in my mind waiting to ask
Why are you still here?
I can’t find a reason to leave
What is it you fear?
I would not like to grieve
Pain being object
The impulsive avoidance of him to protect
Lustfully waiting, berating
For another clean shot at the neck
Running away
While lying in your own room
No time stay
It will conclude in your doom
Long hours spent
In time thought lent
Never to be retrieved
Never to be conceived
Leave
Don’t believe
Leave
Home is wherever the mind is untainted
Regression a symptom of a mind unfaded
Grasp in mortal arms
Worship healthy harm
Feel the vibration
Bring on the dislocation
Beat your provocations
You don’t own your conscious
For he dreams to be your master
Leave him alone
And watch the road go by faster
