Walking in the North: A Video Essay in 3 Parts

These three videos were taken in and around Churchill, Manitoba. At the time of their creation, it was minus 37 C, with windchill that made it feel like minus 53, winds of 25 k/hr and gusts to 34 k/hr.

3. Walking on the Tundra

Diane Beckett

I moved to Churchill the day before the World Health Organization announced the pandemic and the world went crazy. Churchill is a great place for someone who works for sustainability, environment and climate action to spend COVID-19. I have watched the Northern lights, paddle boarded and kayaked with belugas, been safely close to Polar Bears and on the tundra to hike, pick berries and mushrooms, snow shoe and cross country ski.
