“Summer Skin is based on a kind of summer memory that’s half real and half myth. An homage to Brian Wilson following a path into the strange world of White Lotus”
Song, instruments, and production stuff: Jonathan Evans
Vocals: Jonathan Evans and Rosemary Fairweather
Summer Skin
The waves
We’ll follow the white lines ’til we reach the sea
Where there’s no danger, girl
Except for the dripping off your cherry swirl
A five-dollar bet for a two-dollar candy bar
Enough to make a grown man cry
We’ll play the old cassettes and smoke your mother’s cigarettes
Late into the night
Sinking into the skies
Pull me underwater
Tell me all your lies
All the things I want to hear
Is it good? It’s so good, it’s so good
The wind
Slowly moving, barely whispering
Oh, stay—swear we’re never going back again
We can just pretend that summer’s never gonna end
Sucker is the last one in
And I don’t know what to say
’Cause it’s never gone away, it’s written on your summer skin
Sinking into the skies
Pull me underwater
Tell me all your lies
All the things I want to hear
Is it good? It’s so good, it’s so good
It’s written on your summer skin
